David M. Perry, DDS
I have been practicing pediatric dentistry for over 30 years. I completed my undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley and am a proud Cal alum. I received both my Doctorate of Dental Surgery and specialty training in pediatric dentistry from UCSF. I have served as president of the Alameda County Dental Society, president of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Trustee of the California Dental Associations. I am on staff at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland and have access and privileges to perform hospital dentistry at that facility.
I enjoy teaching the pediatric dental residents at UCSF School of Dentistry where I am a volunteer clinical professor.
Sharine V. Thenard, DDS, MS
It’s so special for me to be able to care for the kids in my community. I was born and raised right here in Alameda. A graduate of Lum School, Wood Middle School, and St. Joseph’s Notre Dame High School, I get to see many of my peers and watch their kids grow up in our office.
After graduating from UC Davis and UC San Francisco Dental School, I went to residency at the Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and earned my Masters of Science from The Ohio State University. In 2005, I returned to my hometown of Alameda and in 2006 I became Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
In my professional life, I have been very involved in causes that promote pediatric oral health, and have served as President of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, President of the Alameda County Dental Society, Trustee for the California Dental Association, and have served on numerous Councils and Committees on the local, state, and national dental level. I have been honored to reach status of Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry as well as Fellow of the American College of Dentists.
Outside of the office, I spend my time around town with my three funny and joyful children, who keep me busy beyond belief, my wonderful husband who is a constant source of support, and my adorable Labradoodle, Kona, who tolerates the chaos of the household and is always ready to cuddle and slobber.
MyLinh Ngo, DMD
It is an amazing privilege for me to help kids and educate families on how to achieve good oral health each and every day. Children are such precious gifts and I feel lucky that I can use my skills for detail, empathy, patience and expertise in dental care just for them. I spent my childhood growing up in sunny San Diego and have loved calling the Bay Area my home for the past thirteen years. I completed my specialty training in pediatric dentistry at UCSF and I received my dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where I graduated among the top of the class.
I am board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and am involved in teaching the UCSF residents practice management as a volunteer clinical professor. I hold privileges at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland and the Walnut creek outpatient center. In my spare time, I love using my creativity for arts and crafts, music, and baking healthy eats. I have two sweet girls who brighten my life and keep me smiling. I am an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, California Dental Association and Southern Alameda County Dental Society.
Michael Wahl, DDS
I am a Bay Area native and grew up in San Mateo. I earned my dental degree and pediatric specialty training at NYU, College of Dentistry. During my tenure at NYU, I participated in outreaches in the Dominican Republic and the outskirts of Alaska to provide pediatric dental care to underprivileged communities.
I am also a clinical faculty at the University of Pacific, teaching pre-doctoral students. In my personal time, I enjoy playing sports, watching movies, cooking and rooting for Bay Area sports teams.
Kimberly Whippy, DMD
I am a California native, born in San Francisco and raised in the East Bay. I completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Cell and Developmental Biology and graduated with honors in 2006 from the University of California, Santa Barbara. During my college education, I worked part-time as a dental assistant and fell in love with the field. I received my Doctor of Dental Medicine degree cum laude at Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 2011 and was awarded the Silver Medal for scholastic excellence, along with several academic and performance scholarships. I went on to complete a one-year General Practice Residency at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. During this residency, I learned to manage patients with special behavioral and medical needs and realized my true passion was working with children. I subsequently pursued an additional two-year pediatric dentistry specialty training program at the New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center.
I am thrilled to be back in California after six chilly years on the East Coast and am excited to be part of the amazing Alameda Pediatric Dentistry team. I am board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and am an active member of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Alameda County Dental Society, American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. In my spare time I enjoy participating in community and global health mission trips, traveling, running, biking, hiking, snowboarding, and playing with my two beautiful nieces.
Margarita Lachica, DDS, MS
I have searched the world to find my heart’s home, the Bay Area. A native of Illinois, I graduated from Northwestern University Dental School on a full scholarship from the US Navy, then served our brothers and sisters in uniform for three tours on three continents, the greatest privilege of my life. I finished my naval career as a Lieutenant Commander. Upon returning to civilian life, I taught at the University of Texas at Houston Dental Branch while concentrating on cosmetic dentistry and performing infectious diseases research for the US Navy.
In my five years as a general dentist, I discovered my passion for orthodontics. I subsequently received my orthodontic specialty training and masters degree from UC San Francisco. Because I have practiced as a solo and volunteer specialist for over a decade, I am deeply impressed by Alameda Pediatric Dentistry’s group and multi-disciplinary approach to top-notch patient care. I’m profoundly honored to be a part of the amazing APD family, as well as a health care provider for your precious children.
Outside of private practice, I'm faculty at the UCSF Division of Orthodontics and a mentor young adults interested in careers in dentistry. I have also traveled to Mexico to treat children with facial deformities and orthodontic needs, consulted for the US Naval Recruiting Command of the Bay Area and served on the panel for Congressional Appointments for the US Naval Academy.
I am aspiring soccer mom to my delightful toddler daughter, as well as an adrenaline adventurist.
Chelsea Wong, DDS
I am honored to be a part of the Alameda Pediatric Dentistry team! I was born in San Francisco and raised in the South Bay. After graduating with a B.S. in Human Biology from the University of California, San Diego, I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S) degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry. In dental school, I was the recipient of a 4-year UCSF Regents Scholarship, and I was also elected by my faculty into Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society, which recognizes students for their academic excellence, strength of character, and professional integrity. At UCSF I devoted much of my time to organizing pediatric dental screenings and outreach events to provide dental care and education to underserved children in San Francisco. With inspiration from my own longtime pediatric dentist, I decided to pursue further training to specialize in pediatric dentistry.
Upon graduation from UCSF in 2015, I moved to New York to complete my pediatric dentistry specialty training at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. During residency, I received extensive clinical training in all aspects of pediatric dental care, including behavior management, dental trauma, sedation and anesthesia, and the treatment of patients with special healthcare needs. My goal is to make every child’s dental experience positive and fun! I strongly believe in educating my patients and their families on preventive dentistry and oral hygiene in order to cultivate positive attitudes toward oral health.
Michael Wang, DDS
As a pediatric dentist, I feel incredibly privileged to be able to play a unique role in guiding the dental growth and development of a child, and setting him or her up for oral health success. There is nothing more rewarding and special to me than to witness an improvement in oral health, resulting from the collaborative efforts made by patients and their parents after dental visits. Helping individuals from diverse backgrounds is also something that I enjoy immensely as part of my profession. In addition to being able to communicate professionally in Spanish, I am also a native Mandarin Chinese speaker.
I obtained my Bachelor's of Science in Human Biology, and my Master's of Science in Biological Sciences, from UC San Diego. While studying in San Diego, I became involved with the UC San Diego Free Dental Clinics, where I witnessed the dramatic positive impact that dental care could have on one's quality of life. The experience strongly motivated me to pursue a career in dentistry, and I would later complete my dental degree at the UC San Francisco School of Dentistry. Immediately following my dental education in San Francisco, I moved to New York to complete my pediatric dentistry residency at the Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I graduated with honors from residency and gained a high level of proficiency in treating pediatric patients of diverse needs and backgrounds, in addition to mastering current and novel treatment modalities in pediatric dentistry. Born and raised in the Bay Area, I always had a strong desire to return to California, and am so happy to be now serving the East Bay with my colleagues at Alameda Pediatric Dentistry.
Outside of pediatric dentistry in my spare time, I enjoy learning about different cultures, visiting museums and national parks, discovering new books and podcasts, and traveling.
